The pear tree outside the kitchen window has multicolored leaves. The house smells like the bread I just took from the oven. The sunny day is beaconing to me and I will be walking on a mountain trail this afternoon.
Friday after school Silas helped me to clean the stove pipe. We unhooked the elbow from the wood stove and taped a trash bag to the pipe descending from the ceiling. Up on the roof, with the cap removed, Silas dangled ropes and chains down into the pipe to knock out soot and creosote. There is a wonderful view from the peak of the roof.
Last weekend I attended the Quaker women's retreat and went English country dancing on Sunday evening. Next weekend I have Saturday and Sunday classes for one of my college courses. For now, I am returning to an assignment about literacy and bilingualism.
