One of my students reminded me today that we have thirteen more days of school. The fourteenth day (6 June) is a half day for graduations and recognitions and a special assembly. As much as I am looking forward to my wonderful summer plans, I will miss these amazing days with my students. Each of them brings me such cheer! Today during the Wednesday meeting for worship, my class did not join the whole school. Instead, we sat up on the play structure, under the metal roof to shelter us from a light drizzle. I led my students in a worship-sharing experience. I felt so peaceful and they shared such interesting parts of their lives that may not have been expressed in a normal conversation.
Last night three of the high school students presented their special service projects. They talked about the lives of other people with whom they worked and how the service projects effected their own beliefs. Wow, such wisdom from seventeen year old people! The children who attended think about when they would be in high school and imagine what sort of service project they would choose. The older students are mentors for the younger students in countless ways.
Well, let's see. Shall I end today's blog entry with the mundane? My little heater gizmo on my shower pipe just quit. That is my source for warm water. This morning I heated water on the stove and bathed from my largest bowl. When I got home from the last evening's program, I saw that the new plastic skylights had leaked terribly. The corregated plastic that was put on my roof to replace the old cracked corregated plastic was not installed well or was cut too small for the two skylights. Well, somebody who does maintenence for the school will get up on the roof with a roll of roofing tape. When it rains hard again, I will tell them what spots were missed.
