Well, that big noisy fellow returned to my neighborhood. He really gets going around three-thirty, way before dawn! I enjoyed watching the friendly band of capuchins this morning at six-thirty. I was doing yoga in my kitchen floor and they were scampering in the trees. I stood and sang a song to them and they sat still and listened, watching me. The carablancas are handsome and social. I hope that they were not moving their family to a quieter neighborhood now that my howler monkey is making such a ruckus.
My students are busy preparing their Canada presentations for Friday. Student dyads are reporting on the wild animals of Canada, traditional housing of Canada, Canadian food, the rivers and continental divide, languages & religions, and whatever interested them. Last week they held a bake sale and hand-painted card sale to make money for our field trip to the butterfly garden this week. Their detailed watercolors of insects were very popular.
I am getting to know the families more and more. Last night one of the mothers called to ask if her son needed extra tutoring in English. In our conversation, which was all in Spanish, I assured her that he would be getting plenty of practice in class and that it was still early in the year. I told her that his English was better than the teacher´s Spanish and we both laughed.
