I really don´t know how long I will have until the electricity goes off again.
After meeting and potluck I came upstairs to the teacher´s lounge to use the computer and write my blog. The electricity came back on after waiting two hours. Then, the phone line went dead; no modem. So, the rain is really pouring down. It was sunny this morning.
Yesterday was a clean-up day at the school. I tried using the computer in the afternoon and the electricity went off. I meandered home, stopping for cheese and milk at the dairy store and bananas from the trees in J.& H.´s yard. I got really drenched. . . as I will today. Wow, the rain is really loud on the roof!
One of the things that all of the teachers tell me is to have lessons prepared for when nobody can hear over the noise of the rain on the roof. Sometimes it will be independent reading, other times it will be making a map or diagram. The teachers have to be ready for the loud downpour.
You can see the clearstory roof of Micki´s cabina to the right of the hammock photo. She arrived on Thursday. Last night we walked to the meeting house for the square dancing. (Today at meeting I bought homemade yogurt from last night´s caller.) I had a lot of fun and finished with a polka.
Tomorrow the new folks (that includes me) go to San Jose to do our paperwork and fingerprinting. The rest of the week is scheduled with orientation and teacher inservice. I´m excited to begin the new school year.
